Mystic Trails (5) Finding Father

MYSTIC TRAILS (5)

Finding Father

Ext: Tomei walking down main street with hands extended.

Narrator

"Now, Tomei was on a mission to find Jason, the presumed father to Belinda's child.
She was feeling for vibrations that matched the particular Jason she was looking for.
Seemed like she was charting new waters all the time, and this was a skill she hadn't quite mastered yet. She knew there were a dozen Jason's in this town of 4500, but would her senses be able to pick out the right one?

She suddenly locked on to a signal, a matching spiritual wavelength, and it was coming from the General Store. This was a busy place, handling just about every item and connecting service that served this little town. Tomei walked in, seeking a stronger energy, but instead it only flattened. This meant that her Jason had been there or passed through, but wasn't there in person. Tomei decided to ask the store owner a few questions just to be sure.

The store owner approached her..."

Howard Wynn-Store Owner

"Good morning young lady, how may I help you?"

Tomei

"Yes, I was wondering if there might be a Jason here, maybe someone that works for you?"

Wynn

"And if there was a Jason here, what would that have to do with you?"

Tomei

"Well, assuming it's the right Jason, I have something to tell him!"

Wynn

"Let me get this straight...if it's the right one sweetheart, and just how are you going to know?"

Tomei

"They tell me..."

Wynn

"Do they...and who is they?"

Tomei pointing finger straight up

"The spirit world...they know everything!"

Wynn

"Right honey...the spirit world...now tell me child, have you been feeling okay?"

Tomei

Great...just perfect, I just came back from turning a baby around this morning, never even done anything like that...first time...baby just popped out like a greased pig!"

Wynn

"Greased pig...you just up and turned that baby around...you've got quite an imagination I'll say!"

Tomei

"And get this, it was still inside, too!"

Wynn

"I'm almost afraid to ask, but what the hey...inside what?"

Tomei

"Belinda's belly...she was having a baby and it was sideways, and I turned her the right way so it could be born!"

Wynn

"Was anybody else there?"

Tomei

"Oh, sure...Doc, all the girls who work for Madam Ellis...it was really something...you should have been there!"

Wynn

"Well, nobody came a calling or I would have took a visit."

Tomei

"It's too late now, but your getting off my question...do you have a Jason who's around here...cause I feel his energy just a little bit?"

Wynn

"Yes I do, but he went to Fort Kearney this morning to deliver some coffee and food stuff over there, probably won't be back till this evening, you can always come back later and see if he's the Jason your looking for?"

Tomei

"I'm pretty sure it is, cause even his "after" energy is still here..."

Wynn

"His after energy?"

Tomei

"That's what's left over after you touch something or leave the area...messes with the air!"

Wynn

"Okay...that certainly explains everything...can't be messing with that air too much, huh?"

Tomei

"Cause it remembers...I'll be back later...thank you sir!"

(Scene Switch)

Ext: Outlaws coming up on horses into Dolson.

Outlaw #1 (Tom Dickens)

"Think Dolson be in his bank?"

Outlaw #2 (Earl Thomas)

"Just cool yourself down a moment, cause we just fresh in here...let's go to the hall, maybe get us a room and a bath, whatcha think?"

Outlaw #1

"I'm thinking your a man with a plan...get my drink on, too!"

Outlaw #2

"I know you want to collect your payroll and roll out of here, but it's too obvious...they'd have us strung up before sundown...that money ain't goin anywhere!"

Outlaw #1

"You right, gotta learn to lay it down and blend in...guess I'm just edgy doing the main guy...I mean he own's this place right?"

Outlaw #2

"Well, according to J.P., he did, now he's in debt up to his eyeballs...so we just here to clean up the mess...what happens when you get carried away!"

Outlaw #1

"Wonder who's gonna take over when we finished?"

Outlaw #2

"Ain't none of our business, cause it will either take care of itself, or just cease to exist from this point going...for all I know J.P. may have us running it...who knows?"

Outlaw #1

"We don't know how to run no bank!"

Outlaw #2

"Now, how hard could it be, just take people's money and stick in your pocket...if they want some, you charge 'em a couple of bits to use it...couldn't be that complicated?"

Outlaw #1

"Let's go on head and get ourselves into town, take a look around..."

Outlaw #2

"If I'm gonna be a banker, probably need a new jacket and stuff, kinda look the part!"

Outlaw #1

"We ain't been invited yet, just give her time...never know what might happen!"

(Scene Switch)

Narrator

"The Sheriff was waiting on word to the legal obligations of his posted position in regard to the decision of the territorial council regarding his authority to make an arrest in the case of John Dolson. He needed confirmation from Judge Timmons out of Fort Kearney that there was a valid charge of an attempted robbery of the Wells Fargo stage, even if it was to salvage his own encountered debt obligations. Until he got the okay, there was little more the Sheriff could do but sit and wait on the telegraph!"

Int: Sheriff's Office-1 p.m.

Sheriff talking to his lead deputy

"Well, I just can't see how I can leave this be and do nothing...cause if I'm right, it won't be long till Morgan's boys are going to be paying Dolson a visit...I know how them financial types play this game."

Deputy

"So Sheriff, they come and clean up the mess huh?"

Sheriff

"Oh, you can bank on that so to speak...they don't tolerate incompetency when it comes to lending out money, especially outside source towns like this...I mean we're just a start-up...risky business making loans in these parts!"

Deputy

"What's the rush with the judge anyway, I don't think Mister Dolson is going anywhere?"

Sheriff

That's the problem, I don't think he's going anywhere either...maybe he just doesn't get it...if I was in his shoes I would have skedaddled this town weeks ago!"

Deputy

"So, the crew will be here, and that will be the end of it huh?"

Sheriff

"Not unless I get creative, figure out some way to get him into protective custody or something...see I might get flagged for sticking my fingers in a showdown with the judge."

Deputy

"Like in the end, everybody loses huh?"

Sheriff

"I try to do the right thing, but this has got me stumped...heck, for all I know the clean up crew might already be in town, just laying low for a while.

Deputy

"Maybe you ought to get hold of that little Tomei girl and see what she's seeing...she kind of spooks me the way she can see into what we're thinking..."

Sheriff

"Well, for something like this, I'm going to go on head and use my hunch...maybe just go on head and pick up Dolson before he runs out of time!"

Deputy

"What are you going to tell him?"

Sheriff

"Look, he's not that stupid...he already did some telegraphs...he knows what's coming down with or without my help...I'm going to make the offer and if he refuses, then so be it!

Deputy

"And what happens...happens, best we go before it's too late!

Sheriff

"Exactly, hope we still have time...let's go!"

Mystic Trails (4) Saving Baby

Kirk Carter@ Chew Bear Productions@ Copyright 2015

MYSTIC TRAILS (4)

Saving Baby

Narrator

"Now, one of the working girls who worked for Madam Ellis had up and got pregnant some 9 months ago. Nearing her due date, the other girls had gathered when hearing news of the contractions, along with the Doc to witness the miracle. For a small town like Dolson, this was a big deal...as they had only recorded six live births in the past year.

As her contractions got closer, everyone was excited. Tomei on the other hand seemed to be concerned. Something about the position of the baby had her stressed, and she decided to say something about her visions to the Doc. Doc was busy boiling water and getting towels ready as Tomei approached him."

Tomei

"Hey Doc...you busy right now?"

Doc

"Kinda Hon...what's up?"

Tomei

"Well, I got this funny feeling, been getting them all morning 'bout this baby..."

Doc

"What kinda feelings...you say funny?"

Tomei

"Not like a laugh funny, but...I don't know, like the baby ain't straight or something?"

Doc

"Well, from time to time, things like that could happen...but girl it's rare, pretty doubtful for something like that to happen...the odds be plum terrible...but I appreciate your thoughts, I really got to get back to my preps, any moment now you'll witness a new child brought in to this world...a brand new birth...you can go stand over there if you don't mind?"

Madam Ellis walks upstairs into the birthing room

"Now girls, I know this is a big event, but now Doc needs some room to work, and I do believe that some of you are on duty too...we've got men to entertain and God help me...I'm trying to run a business here...so if you don't mind...you on duty, scoot!"

Belinda (Pregnant Girl)

"I'm so sorry Miss Ellis...'bout all this, it was sort of an accident..."

Madam Ellis clutching Belinda's hand

"Your going to be just fine Honey, everyone has you in their prayers, I just know that everything's going to be okay!"

Belinda breathing rapidly now.

Doc

"Okay ladies, let's make a little space, gettin close to show time here.

Narrator

"And with that, the Doc put fresh towels around Belinda and made ready, waiting for the baby to make it's appearance. But, instead he was shocked to see nothing more than a small hand appear, and it was then he knew right away that Tomei was right, this baby was not in alignment...it was indeed a Breech Baby."

Doc

"Guess you were right Tomei, I may have to get my tools for this, maybe do a cut to make room here!"

Tomei just smiled

"Pardon me Doc, but I think I might be able to help here...I think...never done something like this before..."

Doc looking concerned

"Child, I know you mean well, but you'd be best of purpose wiping the sweat of Miss Belinda's brows there!"

Tomei

"It's not me doing anything...it's the spirits who do the work...I just ask them for the favors...they take it from there."

Belinda looking at Doc

"At least give her a chance, let her try...I've heard things about this girl...she's special!"

Doc shaking his head

"If you say so, we don't have much time...all right Tomei..go head and do whatever it is you do?"

Tomei stood to the side of Belinda and placed her hand on top of her protruded belly and closed her eyes.

Tomei started chanting

"Obla, merci, beavest, huja, doweth...align this sole I ask...prayeth to the forceful ones I request...amen!

Doc was becoming concerned

"I've got to start the operation, how long is this going to..."

Tomei staring at Belinda

"This might take a moment, they work at their own pace!"

Suddenly Tomei's hand started moving sideways as she held it to Belinda's stomach.
Tomei and everyone there could only watch as her hand mysteriously traveled down Belinda's pelvis.

Belinda now breathing rapidly, heavier, suddenly she shuttered and screamed out

"I see them, I see them!"

Doc

"You see what, what are you seeing Dear?"

Belinda

"The Angels I guess, they are right above me, can't you see them?"

Doc looking up at ceiling

"I don't see anything, but the air does feel funny, sort of cool, there might be a draft in the room?"

Tomei

"Quiet please, they are setting up...this won't take long..."

Narrator

"And as Tomei's own hand was guided closer to the birthing canal, it was then that Doc saw something he couldn't believe. Instead of fingers, the baby's head appears, and before Doc had a chance to react, the baby came forth almost without any hesitance, any effort from Belinda. As though the birth was being pushed out by the Angels themselves. The Doc could only could only wipe the baby down, cut the umbilical cord, and soon...Mother and Daughter were one."

Doc looked perplexed, giving Tomei a hug

"Girl, never will figure out what just happened, but thanks for the assistance!"

Tomei smiled, putting her hand to his

"All I did was ask...the Angels took it from there...you know, they're here for all of us..."

Madam Ellis coming back to the birthing room

"My little miracle worker, you did it again...your something else girl!"

Tomei

"Miss Ellis, I need to tell you something...I saw the person, the man who fathered this child...it was in my visions, I sense that he is here in this town as I speak."

Madam Ellis

"Dear, do you have a name?"

Tomei

"I'm searching...yes, I have it now...his name is Jason."

Madam Ellis

"Well, there must be a dozen Jason's in this town, how will you know which one?"

Tomei

"The spirits know, they will help me find him...so please excuse me Miss Ellis, Doc, and to you Belinda (now sleeping with baby in her arms)...thanks for bringing such a beautiful little girl into this world (caressing the baby's forehead with her hand), I must go now...I have things to do!

Madam Ellis

"I swear Doc, that child is an Angel walking in a human body...have you heard of such a thing?"

Doc

"Indeed, we are witnessing a girl destined for sainthood, we should be so blessed!"

Madam Ellis nodding

"Indeed Doc...very much indeed!"

Mystic  Trails (3)

Justification

Int: Sheriff's Office-Next Day-8 A.M.

Narrator

"The undertaker now having taken care of the carnage out on the trail, the Sheriff was busily looking over the inventory list brought over by the bank clerk. He still couldn't explain why all those wild animals acted that way, defending his men and causing so much harm to the bad guys.

Deputy #1 (Mike)

"Sheriff...I ain't ever seen anything like that...it was like that Hawk just swooped down and plum took that guy's head off, fell off the horse, can't explain any of it?"

Sheriff

"They were definitely acting strange...like they were possessed, had to be some kind of a reason?"

Mike

"Well, whatever it was, the stage got in, and nobody got hurt!

Sheriff

"I was thinking, when the undertaker comes back over here, I want to see if I can identify any of these men by face...something just ain't right?"

Mike

"So, you think they were just all locals...dallied up like somebody else?"

Sheriff

"I don't recognize any of the marks on the horses...someone went to a lot of trouble to give these guys a false cover...nobody wanted a connection, and there is only one person that I can think of...and he's coming off of Doc's serum...wonder what he feels like telling?"

Mike

"So, that little magic girl...Tomei, she had said they be the same boys gambling in Madam Ellis's parlor?"

Sheriff

"And they seem to have an awful lot of cash on hand, for some guys that probably haven't even hit a job in a while...no doubt, everything was fronted...I'll bet my life on that!"

Mike

"So, the greased hands came from Mister Dolson...no doubting that...how ya gonna prove it?"

Sheriff

"Bingo, and doing that overnight at the Doc's...got to be falling apart pretty good for your nerves to start twitching that bad!"

Mike

"He got his delivery, and he's falling apart...must be some bank loans gone bad...didn't seem like he was a bad seed but..."

Sheriff

"I know, but them finance types let it get over their heads...then try to do some scheming to bail out...dragging everyone and everybody down with 'em!"

Mike

"So, in other words...he was planning on not getting the shipment...he expected it to fail?"

(Suddenly, there is a knock on the door.)

Sheriff

"Come in!"

Tomei comes in and walks over to the Sheriff's desk.

Sheriff

"Well, good morning young lady, and what may I help you with?"

Tomei

"Well, I did something's yesterday that I wanted you to know about..."

Sheriff

"What kind of things?"

Tomei

"I don't know...casting spells, doin rituals, spiritual request...just curious if everything worked out?"

Sheriff

"Well, I'm assuming your talking about all the strange things that were happening out on the trail?"

Tomei

"I'm sorry if it didn't work out perfectly, but it was what I visioned...I sensed..no I actually saw you getting hurt...so I decided to keep that from happening...was that okay?"

Sheriff

"Anybody that keep my old bones on the right side of this tired old sack of skin is fair blessings in my opinion...but how did you know what to do?"

Tomei

"I just called nature...the animals know what to do...the rest takes care of itself!"

Mike

"So, your the one who called...caused, whatever the hell you did, but them critters went plum crazy...you did all that?"

Tomei

"I guess, wasn't sure it was going to work...all I could do was ask?"

Sheriff kneeling down

"Well, Tomei...my Dear, it did help...heck, you saved my Men's lives...it worked..it worked perfectly!"

Tomei starts crying

"That's...that's so good to hear...thank you Sheriff!"

Sheriif

"Can I get you some tea or something?"

Tomei

"No sir, I better be off to the schoolhouse, so I better be off going..."

Sheriff giving her a hug

"Thanks again Tomei...bless your spirit and your heart...be safe now...you hear?"

Tomei waving

"Bye Sheriff!"

Sheriff to Mike

"What ever it is that that child has...I can't explain...just know that it's a force to reckon with!"

Mike

"If I didn't see it happening before my eyes, I would have said you were fibbing..."

Sheriff

"No doubt there Mike...I'd thought I's be sipping whiskey on a hot day at noon..."

Both Laughing

(Scene Switch)

Narrator

"Meanwhile, at the Dolson Bank, John Dolson finally makes it back to his office from his overnight visit at the Doc's. Now, John Dolson was in a pickle, not having fixed any of his financial problems, he wasn't quite sure what direction to go in?  With all his hired help little more than food for the worms and a pending jumbo payment to J.P Morgan in Chicago, he could only ponder his next move. When a banker in 1840 makes some bad loans, the lender who honored him must cover the overage.

In cases like this, it was usually just a one time violation of the code of bankers, a creed of policy if you will, in them days you were given just one chance to pay the lender. Failure to to that meant the lender was going to have to pay someone else above him. Conditions of collateral became the issue and insurance policies were provided through the Bank Of England and subsidiaries like Wells Fargo. The easiest way to keep everyone on the right track was to never get in Mister Dolson's situation to start with! Too late for him, as the lynch mob had already been dispersed. The welcome wagon to hell they called it, and Mister Dolson had just bought a ticket for a one time ride!

Not knowing what else to do, Dolson decided to extend his time on earth a bit by asking Mister Morgan via telegraph for an emergency extension of credit. Seemed to him that it was better than just doing nothing. But still, he couldn't help thinking that perhaps an old fashioned bank robbery of his own institution should do the trick. Now all he needed was another telegram sent to an old associate in Dodge City, who would be more than happy to come and take his goodies. Happy to do the job, if the cut was right and he was asked to come do the taking!

Now the undertaker and his associates had just returned with a wagon full of corpses. He was going to stop off at the Sheriff's office for a quick visual I.D., but everyone was tired and the bodies were almost beyond a look-see anyway, so the undertaker thought it best to go through their things and get them into the ground as soon as possible. After all, these were guys who had been in and out of jail more times than the Sheriff cared to remember...at least that's what the undertaker was thinking.

The only thing the Sheriff had on his mind, was the only person who had the kind of investment in a tangled up heist like this, was John Dolson. He was just leaving the Western Union, as the Sheriff walked up, bidding him a "Good Morning", as he walked in to talk to the telegraph clerk."

Sheriff walking in

"Hey Sam, been kinda busy this morning?"

Sam the telegraph man

"More so than usual, but then the town is growing...already put out the call for another telegrapher, hope they get him over here soon, I'm needing a break here!"

Sheriff

"What about Dolson...saw him leaving, he seemed to be spending a lot of time here?"

Sam

"Well Sheriff, he is a banker...guess it's bank business, why...you interested in something?"

Sheriff

"Just trying to keep an eye on things, little investigation never hurt...anyone can have a tendency to stray if your not careful..."

Sam

"Well, by law...unless I got orders from a higher source, 'bout all I can provide is where he sent, nothing more...you know that now?"

Sheriff

"I suspect that Sam, so without them orders, what have you got for me?"

Sam

"Looks like I got two here, one to a J.P. Morgan in Chicago and another to Todd Bringam in Dodge City."

Sheriff

"Well, that was helpful...but it really doesn't tell me much of anything, now does it?"

Sam

"Sheriff, rules are rules, and I'm not losing my position by stepping out of line on a hunch...you hear me?"

Sheriff

"So, from what you tapped out, would it be fair to say that he was in a little hot water?"

Sam

"Without being too specific...bad loans and some one to come and take care of business here in town, and I ain't sayin nothing more...fair enough?"

Sheriff

"Fair enough, take care!"

Sam

"Much obliged...you too Sheriff!"

Ext: On the other side of the Oregon Trail by a stream, some outlaws out of Dodge City were watering their horses when they saw two Indian woman washing clothes.

Outlaw #1

"Morning ladies, anyone here speak English?"

Indian woman shaking head saying, "No".

Outlaw #2

"Where are you men folk, don't tell me you gals all by yourselves?"

Both women start pointing toward the direction of Dolson.

Outlaw #1

"Thank you dear, always like someone to tell us where the action is around here!

Outlaw #2

"If you two still around...maybe we can keep you company tonight..."

Both laughing and shooting guns into the air as they leave.

(Scene Switch)

Int: Tomei sitting in kitchen with Madam Ellis.

Tomei

"Miss Ellis, these are good...can I ask you, how did you ever get here?"

Madam Ellis

"Oh girl, things happen, one moment you get an itching to do theater and next moment your just entertaining whoever shows up...next thing you know...you are the theater, you are the entertainment...that's show business on it's most basic level, understand?"

Tomei

"I guess, seems like what you do is kinda risky, but you keep everybody in line...they respect that you keep the men folk happy...they better that way, is that right?"

Ellis

"Men folk with wandering minds be nothing but trouble...you ever see one coming your way, don't look scared, let them know that your a mess they not reckon with, you hear me?"

Tomei

"Yes Mam, I be hearing things all morning...driving me crazy!"

Ellis

"What kind of things got into your mind...is it something I should know?"

Tomei

"It's my nature calling, they want some help...kind of hard to explain...gotta go!"

Ellis

"You take care girl...do what you gotta do!"

(Scene Switch)

Shaman Indians talking up on foothill.

Tomei mounting pony, rides bareback out toward foothills.

(Translated)

Indian #1

"The Eagles are weak, bad water, no nutrition for good shell..."

Indian #2

"We ask for help, but without guide bird we find no food...she the spirit would come, I see risen dust approach, perhaps that her!"

Tomei stops her pony for a second, looking for the troubled Eagles nest, she spots male Eagle circling and see's Indians at foothill.

She places forehand on forehead of each Indian, with a blessing, she begins to chant a recovery prayer from memory.

Tomei

"Como, sutur, emo, seco, bry...atomo, wey, dryer, do mey, plea, all focus amen..."

Narrator

"She pauses and waits with hands, one on each of the Indian's foreheads, as she suddenly feels them warming. Looking down she see's the last egg in the nest start to wiggle and move.

The male Eagle finally stops circling and he too finally lands by the nest.

The paired Eagle couple briefly brush against each other, acknowledging Tomei, as their connection to a higher power, the Indians kissing her hand, not understanding what just occurred, but accepting that Tomei was the source, to the miracle of what just happened.

Tomei smiled, as she scavenged the clouds for understanding to what she just provided, and she felt the truth, she smiled peacefully and was content with her purpose.

She was with nature, and nature was within her. A pairing of one, her spirit united with the higher power, she commanded purpose, her energy pure, her goals untamed but wise!

Tomei, the young Mystic...was becoming legend!"

MYSTIC TRAILS (2)

The Heist

Tomei's bedroom at Madam Ellis's Bordello-1 month Later

As Tomei was busily studying her new book of spells, she starts practicing her skills with some of the working girls who worked for Madam Ellis.
Sitting on her bed with one girl Melinda.

Melinda

Tomei, I don't want to be doing this for the rest of my life...when will I find the right man?

Tomei shuffles her cards, and then spreads them out, pulling one at a time and placing it on a serving tray.

Tomei

"This one...it's the sign of romance (pulling another), this one is for devotion, and this one is for honor."

Melinda

"What does it all mean?"

Tomei

"I don't know, I'm still learning...looks good though, sounds like something goods coming your way...stay positive!"

Melinda

"Thank you so much Tomei, that makes me feel so much better..."

Tomei

"Anytime...good luck!"

Narrator

"Days would go by as Tomei improved her skills, not only as a card reader, but also her psychic abilities. It wasn't long till Melinda found the right man and Tomei was invited to the little wedding. Word soon got out about her skills and proficiency. She may have still been young, but out here in the wild country, she shined like a star.

The Sheriff would call on her now and then, to see how she was doing, and she promised to contact him if she sensed anything suspicious.

One night, Tomei woke up after a violent nightmare. She pulled on a gown and slippers and ran down stairs, banging on Madam Ellis's door."

Tomei

"Madam Ellis, wake up...I must talk to you!"

Madam Ellis was with a suitor at the time, but she still stuck her head out the door to see what the child wanted.

Madam Ellis

"What is it girl...do you know what time it is?

Tomei

"I know, but it's important...I need to go talk to the Sheriff!"

Ellis

"Can't this wait till in the morning, I'm trying to run a business here...now go back to sleep!", slamming the door in her face.

Frustrated, she ran back upstairs and got dressed, snuck out the second floor window, and climbed down the fire escape. Off to the Sheriff's sleeping quarters above the jail, banging on his door, the Sheriff answering with a gun in his hand.

Sheriff Bill

"Who is that, what do you want?"

Tomei

"It's just me Tomei...I saw something tonight, need to talk about it!"

Sheriff

"What did you see, where was it?"

Tomei

"In my dreams, I saw something happen!"

Sheriff

"Girl, please don't wake me about something you saw in your dreams, I don't have time for your games, go back to bed!", slamming the door. Tomei stood for a second, then just started giving the details through the door.

Tomei

"Well, it involves some men, some men I think you know...they are planning to heist the 4:30 Wells Fargo on Wednesday...it's a shipment of gold bars, diamonds, and some blank stock certificates for the railroad..."

She paused, as the Sheriff slowly opened the door

"The 4:30 huh, so I know these men?"

Tomei

"It's the same men that play cards at the Bordello...I see them all the time looking downstairs."

Sheriff

"How would you know who they are?"

Tomei

"I see their Aura's, like around the skin, like an outline, they are grey, real sinister looking...I feel coldness when I pass by them..."

Sheriff

How am I suppose to just walk up and accuse someone for being cold, or having a grey Aura for something they haven't even did yet?"

Tomei

"Yet...so, I'm not sure either, but how does one deal with a prospective crime...you are the law, so you must have had suspicions on someone in the past?"

Sheriff

"I have, but if your hunch is right, I guess I could call up a look out party, sort of watch over the trail and things...maybe get some of the boys in the morning...ah, tell ya what, you go back to bed young lady, and in the morning we'll see if we can work something out!"

Tomei

"Okay Sheriff, Sheriff Bill...good night."

(Scene Switch)

Sheriff's Office-8 a.m.

Sheriff talking to deputies

"Just wanted to let you guys know that this stake-out that I'm calling up is based on a pretty reliable source, some inside information concerning a heist on the 4:30 Wells Fargo...so be prepared for some possible action when all this supposedly comes down!"

Deputy #1

"So, Sheriff...has this heist been planned for a while?"

Sheriff looking at deputy's face

"I don't know the timeline here, surely don't...so I'm asking all of you, has anybody heard of anything, you tell me?"

Deputy #2

"Well sir, I was playing cards at the Ellis house and I did hear some talk about bank control, something about fixing some bad loans, but no one in particular comes to mind..."

Sheriff

"Well, if that's connected to this, that would at least establish a motive...but what loans...way to early to be finger pointing..."

Deputy #3 holding hand up

"Ah sir, can I be excused, got some chores to tend over at the blacksmith's?"

Sheriff

"Okay Jeff, but check back with me at noon...got to post positions and stuff!"

Deputy #3

"Okay Sheriff, good enough!"

Sheriff noticing that Jeff was leaving in a rush

"And there goes a boy that we need to keep our eyes on...might be a stooly...hey Mike (Deputy #2), could I get you to follow him along, kind of see if he makes it to the blacksmith's?"

Mike quickly changing his shirt

"No problem Sheriff, be right back!"

Mike walks outside and gets on horse. Already see's risen dust telling the direction of where Jeff went. Following the trail, he follows it to the back of a row of buildings, where he see's his horse tied behind the Dolson Bank. Mike takes note and doubles back.

(Scene Switch)

On the inside of the Dolson Bank, Jeff walked in the rear door with only a clerk setting up for  9 o'clock.

Jeff walks up to him

"Where's Mister Dolson, really need to talk with him?"

Clerk

"Won't be in till 9, what's you rush?"

Jeff

"Look, I'll wait out in the back, just tell him that something's up!"

(Scene Switch)

Tomei is doing chants out of her spell book.
Moving a crystal hanging by a thread over a pentagram.

Tomei

"Oh mystic one, show your power divine...be aware of the bad spirits among us...it's presiding with greed and savagery...block those spirits from causing harm and keep those away who willfully break God's laws from practicing their evil...in faith may the spirits of good prevail...ah ov wa toma glee ano wite cah la vka..."

Moving the crystals around, you could see it start to spin on it's own, lining up with markings on the board below.

Tomei smiled

"Well, that should help a little..."

(Scene Switch)

Dolson Bank-President Dolson coming in. Clerk informs him of Jeff waiting in the back.

John Dolson

"I don't have time for chit chat, we have a meeting this afternoon, and it can't wait...tell him to come back tomorrow!", storming off outside and getting in his luxury surrey, yanking the reins hard, and taking off.

Narrator

15 minutes later, Dolson shows up where all his cronies are on the side of a creek bed just off the Oregon Trail. He prepares the men for their positions and strategy.

Dolson

"Well, is everybody ready for some action...

Outlaw #1

"Well boss, we had to chase off a few Indians that were snooping around earlier...but don't worry, this will be easier than shooting fish in a barrel..."

Dolson

"Just remember, no hesitation, clean shots, get them down, get the trunks, no witnesses!"

(Scene Switch)

Narrator

"Sheriff Bill and the deputies set up a look out on a ridge just above the Oregon Trail, about a mile out of town. Looking down through a mono scope the lead deputy starts looking for any signs of activity. He spots some dust rising, but it's too far of a distance to get a good read. Suddenly, off in the distance he spots what appears to be Dolson's gang, but he still couldn't confirm that it was them."

Deputy #2

"Sheriff, got something here...can't quite make it out, but I was thinking it don't make sense that I saw that Jeff guy over behind the Dolson bank earlier...been bugging me, what you figure is going on?"

Sheriff

"Well Mike, he was either checking to make sure the stage was on time or just seeing if...wait a minute...the stage comes to that bank directly...first stop, wonder if something sneaky is going on, like swindling the loot before it makes it to the bank?"

Deputy #2

"Why would someone want to do that?"

Sheriff

"Insurance scam maybe, too early to tell, but you can bet I got that in back of my mind!"

Narrator

"Now, Mister Dolson was no fool. He had the boys change horses, handkerchiefs over their faces, and completely different guns and rifles, every detail methodical. Dolson himself would not be participating in the actual heist. He would stay back at the bank and act surprised at the bad news! With Dolson's men in place, and a couple of sniper's up in the rocks, it looked like easy pickings. The Sheriff had no clue where the gang was set up and it was nearing 4 o'clock."

(Scene Switch)

Tomei's bedroom-4 p.m.

Narrator

"Tomei was working still another spell, reading from her book, she had already sensed the impeding drama and decided that a more precise spell needed to be employed. She decided that only the true friends of nature would be able to help out. So, she went about with the crystal, spinning it by a thread."

Tomei

"Oh, Mystic one, I implore that you summon the animals of nature to find purpose, find their place, and help thwart the bad things that destiny holds for the innocent...see to it that their plans are blocked in only the ways you deem necessary...Aui Goya Emo Grandes, Oploy!"

Narrator

"As the crystal locked up, she could really smile, knowing that this time good would prevail!"

(Scene Switch)

Narrator

"Now the Sheriff had positioned his men about a mile out east of Dolson on the trail. It was 10 minutes after 4, and if the Wells Fargo stage was running on time, it should be passing them any moment now. Dolson's men, the two perched up in the hills with rifles, and the other 6 scattered about, were waiting, too!

It was almost 4:20 and out of the vastness here comes the Wells Fargo with it's Mother lode of gold, diamonds, and blank stock certificates. The driver and the shotgun guard were feeling pretty confidant, as this was an over night layover. Both were looking forward to a hot bath, good food, and some real sleep when they got into Dolson.

As the coach got within range of one of Dolson's snipers, something strange begin to happen. You could hear screeches from the hawks overhead as they circled the stagecoach in full gallop. As the sniper put the gun sight to his eye and centered, he started to squeeze off the shot which would take out the guard. As he started to squeeze the trigger, out of no where several Prairie Dogs scurried out of their hole and attacked the sniper's ankles. As he looked down he couldn't believe what he was seeing. They had chewed clean through his leather boots. As he dropped the gun, he lost his balance and fell to the ground bleeding and in excruciating pain, about a dozen more Prairie Dogs came out the hole biting into his neck, as the sniper slowly bled to death.

The stage was coming within range of the second sniper when suddenly as he went to take a shot at the guard he heard the distinct rattle of a Rattlesnake just behind him. As he turned around and tried to take bead on the reptile, the snake uncoiled almost vertically for the strike, catching the sniper right in the neck. With the venom injected so close to his brain, he died instantly!

Now, Dolson's crew on the trail we're puzzled as the snipers hadn't performed their duties, so they started riding toward the stage which was bearing down on them. The shotgun guard picked one rider off with one blast from the shotgun. Before he could get off another shot at another outlaw, out of the blue sky a hawk appeared, screaming downward, projecting his beak into the back of his neck, as his talons folded around the front of his face, scratching his eyes out. The outlaw lost his balance on his horse, fell off, his head slamming into a rock!

Another shotgun rider decided to turn around and not take on the raging stage heading right for him. Within seconds the stage was almost on top of him, and as the shotgun guard went to shoot him in the back, a cloud of Hornets came seemingly out of no where, attacking the outlaw, paralyzing him instantly as his horse ejected him into a near by tree, with the limbs decapitating his head!

At that point the Sheriff had pinpointed the last outlaw and sent his men over to surround him. He instead attempted to dash behind some rocks, trying earnestly to shoot in all directions as the men encircled him. With the Sheriff's men all around him, they had no choice but to return fire, death by posse'!

As the sun was going down, with Dolson's men scattered all over the place, Sheriff Bill decided to call the men in for the night. They would come back in the morning to pick up the carcasses.
Now it's true, the Sheriff avoided certain tragedy, but now the bigger questions remained...how could he ever prove who was behind this and what prompted all that wildlife to come to action like that?

As the Wells Fargo stage showed up at the Dolson Bank with the Sheriff and deputies in tow, Mister Dolson walked out on the porch expecting the bad news about the heist."

Sheriff Bill

"Here you go Mister Dolson, everything's all here...had a little trouble from some no-gooders back there on the trail, but we made it...everything intact!

Narrator

"When Mister Dolson realized that all the gold, diamonds, and certificates had actually made it to his bank, he suddenly looked panic stricken, looked like he was gasping for air, then passed out, and fainted, hitting the front porch hard!

The Sheriff ushered for the Doc, as the bank clerk, completely without knowledge of the attempted heist started checking in the cargo."

Sheriff Bill

"Hey clerk...if you don't mind, make me a copy of that inventory and have it on my desk in the morning?"

The Clerk looking up smiling

"Of course Sheriff, of course..."

MYSTIC TRAILS (1)

Finding Tomei

Opening Scene:

Narrator

It was 1842, outside a little town called Dolson, which was located in Nebraska, just a stones throw down from Fort Kearny along the Oregon Trail. Right outside of Dolson a wagon train coming almost directly out of Boston with 20 wagons was on their way for a final destination in Oregon City, Oregon.  The total population of the group was about 60, with about 25 married couples, with 16 children, and a mixed group of single men and women. Some were seeking the beginning of the "Gold Rush", others looking for a new life. It was a hard struggle either way, as the elements were against them, and winter would soon be approaching.

The Calvary out of Fort Kearney was called out once again to act as cover for what was called the Boston Movement. Every wagon train had to name their venture in order for the Army to be able to distinguish one from the other. They did their best to oversee the cattle runs, wagon trains, Pony Express, and the Wells Fargo transfers going on almost daily. The mixed tribes of Indians and general no-gooder's, and thief's did not help in the movement of frontier bound settlers, with commerce and goods coming to their territory. With episodes of brief violence, everything they were bringing was there for the taking.

It was also a question of food. It was very important to get fresh shipments of meat, hides, and general rations through to support the little townships along the trail. Misfortune occured with the Boston Movement, as they were hit by Indians just at dusk right outside of Dolson. As they were preparing to camp, tired and hungry they started unloading all their rations to prepare dinner when they were ambushed and massacred. The next day the carnage was reported by a rider with the Pony Express, and within hours the Calvary and the Sheriff with his Deputies out of Dolson arrived to take an accounting of the incident, pick up, and bury the dead. Any articles and personal belongings were picked up and recorded best they could, with a possibility of getting personal keepsakes back to relatives and next of kin. The Sheriff had been through this more times than he cared to remember!

One group of items caught the eye of one of the town folk. It was two Mahogany boxes with Pentagrams on the their lids. One box contained Tarot cards and the other contained crystal pendants and rare stones. Eventually these were turned over to the Sheriff for safe keeping. As time went on the Calvary was continually called up from the east, but the Indians persisted along with the outlaws that preyed on the settlers, too! Of the Boston Movement, a girl was found in a damaged trunk. Apparently she was placed there by her Father during the massacre, and it eventually fell off the wagon behind some tumbleweeds. After she had resumed consciousness, and a look over by the Doc, the Sheriff placed her into the custody of Madam Ellis who owned and operated a combination boarding house, bordello, and gambling hall. She was the leading business person in the town, other than the owner of the bank which bared his name John Dolson.

The Sheriff figured this was the safest place for her until other arrangements could be made. At the first meeting, tea was served, and Madam Ellis got a chance to make acquaintance with the little girl that just escaped death.

Ellis

"How are you doing today?"

Girl

"Oh, I'm okay, just hurt a lot, really miss my Pa!"

Ellis

"What is your name child?"

Girl

"It's not common, but my Pa called me Tomei...don't know what it means, but it's as close to a name that I got!"

Ellis laughing

"And a very pretty name too...now if you don't mind, where are you from?"

Tomei

Came over from Boston, but Pa just said we had to leave, something about a ghost following us...I don't know what he meant, but I started seeing like an outline image...something Pa didn't want me to see, but I didn't tell Pa that I saw it anyway...she just kept coming up to me all cold, making me shiver, trying to touch me...and when I talked to her Pa would yell at me...tell me to stop talking to something that didn't exist...and I just kept telling him it looked like Mom, and he told me to shut up...but he never knew that I could always see people nobody else saw!"

Ellis

"These images you see, have you always had them?"

Tomei

"I reckon it started when my Mom hit me in he head with a rolling pin after she caught me swearing...I knocked out and when I woke I could see all kinds of people floating around, trying to talk to me, trying to touch me..."

Ellis

"And did you see what just happened...what just happened to your Father and the rest of your group?"

Tomei

"Yes, I told Pa that we should wait, and he told me to quit talking like that...calling me crazy and stuff!"

Ellis

"Well, right now I just want you to get some rest, got you your own room upstairs, you'll be safe there, okay?"

Tomei

"Thank you very much Madam Ellis, thank you..."

(Scene Switch)

Madam Ellis talking to Sheriff

"Well, she's an unusual girl, seems to have some kind of powers of vision, see's things before others do..."

Sheriff

"What does that mean, what's this seeing the future?"

Ellis

"Honestly, I don't know...heard of things like that, but what can we do with her, for her...I'll try to keep my eye on the child cause she looks to be a handful!"

(Scene Switch)

Narrator

"And so, as the Sheriff attempted to work with the Calvary to stop all the pillaging and destruction the Indians and outlaws were causing, little Tomei had entered the one room school house where Angie Landers taught. She marveled how spirited the 10 year old Tomei was, watching birds fly and land at her feet, butterflies landing into her hair and staying for hours. But, what impressed Miss Landers the most is how she naturally drew children toward her. Her grades and literacy were impeccable, and very advanced for such a small child,

One day the Sheriff had asked Madam Ellis to bring Tomei down to the office, saying he had something to show her.

Sheriff's Office-1 P.M. Sat.

Madam Ellis walks in with Tomei wearing a pretty new dress with embroidered flowers, who was looking around Sheriff's office.

Tomei

"Gosh Sheriff, you certainly have a lot of guns here, looks like your ready for anything?"

Sheriff chuckling

"Well Tomei, it's a big country out there, lots of bad people who we have to look for...I try, I say I try my best to protect the town and it's people...oh, by the way, you can just call me Bill!"

Tomei

"Thank you Sheriff...Sheriff Bill, what did you want to see me for?"

Sheriff

"Well, last year when you came to us, when we found you, the only one that survived the massacre, we found these artifacts and I was wondering if you would be interested in having them?"

Tomei studied the two boxes, one with the Tarot cards and the other with the crystals and rare stones, she looked up and smiled.

"These belonged to Sister Danielle, she could see into the future with these...like give you readings, tell you if you were going to get sick, grow crops, find a man to have you...all kind of stuff!"

Sheriff

"Did you know if she had any next of kin?"

Tomei

"Oh no, she was a spinster, only one left in her family...think she was from Spain...maybe Madrid."

Sheriff

"Anyway I'd like for you to take this for yourself, would you like that?"

Tomei

"Why thank you Bill, that's very kind of you...I will take very good care of them, thank you again!"

Madam Ellis as they were leaving

"That was very nice of the Sheriff...maybe you can incorporate this with your study, I mean to expand your other abilities...hope it helps anyway?"

Tomei

"Oh yes, the cards are for the readings, and the crystals are for good luck, peaceful connotations, and altering the future...what I need to find is a good book for all of this to be sure, to learn the secrets."

Ellis

"I'll see what I can do Tomei, perhaps Miss Landers can find something for you!"

Getting up Madam Ellis and Tomei start to leave

Sheriff

"I wish you the best with these things, you two have a blessed day!"

Tomei

"Thank you again Bill...Sheriff Bill!"

Ellis

"I'll see you later Bill, take care."

As the two start to walk back, Tomei busily looking through box with crystals in them. She comes across a small crystal and just says

"I'll be right back!"

And with that she ran back over to the Sheriff's office, with Madam Ellis in tow.

Knocking on door, the Sheriff quickly answers.

"What is it Tomei, what's wrong?"

Tomei

"Nothings wrong, just thought maybe you should keep one of these crystals with you for good luck...considering what you do, you need all the good luck you can!"

Sheriff

"Well...that indeed I do, indeed I do, thank you Tomei!"

Everybody laughing
