Schooling Dolsen
Narrator
"It came up too suddenly...the day when Tomei was requested to transform John Dolson into a wholesome honorable God fearing man. It had been a month since Dolson's trial, everything seemed to be finished, everything returning back to normal. Tomei was finishing up with her schooling, she was pondering what to do next, as her teacher told her that that was about as high a level that she teaches at. Any further education would have to be founded in another town.
John Dolson had returned to his banking operations, as J.P. Morgan forgave him, called off the forfeit dogs, and had even fronted him a small emergency loan of $5000. Seemed like by-gones be by-gones, like nothing had ever happened. But, the reality was that the outline of the sentence that Judge Timmons imposed was just coming into play, and it was time for Tomei and the Sheriff to pay Dolson a visit...his first lesson..."
Int: Sheriff's Office-8 A.M.
Sheriff
"Well, looks like we need to go round up Dolson, guess he's not coming over under his own power?"
Deputy Mike
"Yea, didn't think for a second he would, always trying to avoid anything uncomfortable!"
(Scene Switch)
Int: Madam Ellis's Bordello-Tomei's Bedroom
Tomei busily putting her precious stones in box, trying to get all her spiritual material organized for carry. This would be her first time to conduct her connection with the spirit world from outside her bedroom.
Tomei talking to herself
"Got to be strong...oh spirits, please work with me, show me your ways, guide me in your proper direction, amen!"
(Scene Switch)
Int: Dolson's Bank-John Dolson's office
Dolson cleaning a gun, talking to himself
"Guess I better get moving here...wonder if anyone remembers what day it is today?"
Sudden knock on Dolson's office door.
Sheriff walking in pushing aside the clerk
"Morning Dolson...yes, as a matter of fact, we all remember what day it is...let's get this going...and for heaven's sake, put that gun away, your making me twitch...you don't want me twitching understand?"
Dolson putting gun in drawer
"Feel better with an escort anyway, where we going...your place I figure?"
Sheriff laughing
"Yea, coffee's hot, and a fresh set of chains if you get out of line, so try to behave yourself!"
(Scene Switch)
Ext: Sheriff's Office
Tomei showing up on Argus, tying him to the post, she starts to remove her satchel of prayer stones and mystic materials. After knocking on door, she looks through window seeing no one. Suddenly she hears a complaining John Dolson, being prompted by gun point from the Deputy, coming up the corridor of the main path through the middle of town.
Dolson
"I was coming in, I tell you the truth, I knew today was the day!"
Sheriff
"Yea, I'm sure you were just waiting for us to show up...but we knew you were good for it, just thought we'd show you the way!"
Deputy Mike
"We didn't want you to get lost trying to find your way over to the Sheriff's Office...with all these side-streets...so confusing!"
Sheriff spots Tomei with materials
Sheriff
"Hey Tomei, glad to see you young lady...you ready for this?"
Tomei smiling
"Ready Sheriff, nervous, but ready...have no clue what we're going to do here, but we gonna try something..."
Dolson complaining
"Well, if you don't have a game plan, then what in tarnation am I wasting my time for?
Sheriff
"Dolson...shut-up...either do this or I'm giving you the rope...you hear me?"
Walking into Sheriff's Office, Tomei points over to coroner chair, and directs John Dolson to sit there
"Here Mister Dolson, sit here!"
Dolson tries to protest, but the Sheriff jams the shotgun in his back
"Do what she says Dolson, no racket out of you, you hear me?"
Dolson
"Yea, I'm moving, what's this little girl going to do...turn me into a aprrow or something?"
Tomei approaches Dolson
"I'm not quite sure what you will turn into...that's up to you?"
Dolson
"This is such a waste of time...what's this silly girl got going with the Judge anyway?"
Sheriff
"She spared you the rope, I would just play along and see what happens...everything is on the table and I'm going to have to see an honest effort out of you or your not going back home tonight, understand?"
Tomei pulling out crystal on a the string
"Okay Mister Dolson, I want you to concentrate on this crystal, keep your eyes focused on it as it spins.
As the crystal spins, she starts rocking it back and forth, Dolson's eyes suddenly transfixed on the crystal as it spins and drifts through the air on the end of the delicate string.
Dolson
"Okay, I got this, I don't think...don't think, I'm thinking..."
Tomei
"And what are you thinking Mister Dolson?"
Dolson
"I feel free from something, are you asking me something...I can't tell?"
Tomei smiling and nodding to Sheriff
"Well, I haven't asked you anything, but the spirits might be trying to connect with you...I don't know?"
Dolson
"They want to know...they want to know what I was like..."
Tomei
"As a boy, as a little boy, what kind of little boy were you, good...or bad, what kind of little boy were you sir?"
Dolson starts crying
"I was bad...a bad little boy...I killed my Mom's chickens...I attacked the little girl over in Clover, but I didn't mean to do that, she wouldn't like me...all I wanted for her was to like me...why didn't she understand...I cared for her...but she wouldn't listen...why?"
Tomei shrugging her shoulders to Sheriff
"Okay, well, so she wouldn't listen, so you what...what did you have to do to make it right?"
Dolson still crying
"I hit her with a shovel, then when I came back from putting her in the ground, I came back and killed my Mommy's chickens...okay, they were making to much noise, had to make them quiet!"
Tomei
"And so you did, anything else we should know?"
Dolson
"Lot's of things, but you just want me to behave...right?"
Tomei
"That's correct Mister Dolson, can't do much about the past, but we need you to behave...do you think you can learn to get along and help out your town folk...we need you to be a leader, can you do that?"
Dolson
"Your going to let me lead, can I do that?"
Tomei
"According to the Sheriff and the Judge, your qualified to do just about anything you want...would you like to be a leader?"
Dolson
"Oh yes, I'm not going to hurt the chickens or..."
Tomei
"Or anything else...you will help, not hurt, you understand me?"
Dolson
"I will help, it's all good...I will make believers out of all around me...I think I understand now!"
Tomei goes into chant
"Olga, Paute, Coma, Weboust, Ingo, Palma, Defl, we ask the spirits to transfix this man, as he has bequest gifts of the non-previous...repent these negative thoughts and renew his belief in your world and onto himself...in your names I pray, amen!"
The spinning crystal instantly stopped, freezing instantly in mid air.
Sheriff gasp and takes a hard swallow as he witnesses
"I'll be darn, it's real, did you see that Mike?"
Deputy Mike
"Ahh, yea, right, what the..."
Tomei passing her hand in front of Dolson's eyes
"I bring you back to us, Mister Dolson, come home!"
Dolson snaps his head hard, almost falling out of chair
"What, what, where the hell was I?"
Tomei laughing, putting away her crystal
"You were with my friends in the spirit world, they had a little talk with you I presume?"
Dolson
"Oh, so you tricked me...did you give me a potion, what happened?"
Sheriff
"No potion Dolson, just you spilling your guts about stuff we never heard about....Tomei, where we go with this?"
Tomei
"Let's give it a week, and see what happens...sometimes all this renewal takes a while to set in, you know?"
Dolson
"I'll be good to the people, I will listen and honor them, but why...why do I suddenly care about any of you?"
Tomei
"This could get annoying?"
Sheriff
"Dolson, pick yourself up and go do some banking, we'll be in touch next week, you hear me?"
Dolson
"Yes sir, yes sir Sheriff, banking...sounds like a plan..."
Dolson gets up and exits Sheriff's Office without any hesitation.
Sheriff to Tomei
"I don't know what you just did, but I witnessed something that has made a believer out of me!"
Deputy Mike still frozen up
"That thing just froze in mid air, how'd that happen?"
Tomei
"Look guys, I have no instruction manual to any of this...I learn as I make my applications...they guide me toward their principals, what they expect from those who request and serve their desires...beyond that...I'm just as astonished by all they provide...really, I am!"
Sheriff
"For starters, let's see what happens with Dolson...guess we can hope for the best?"
Tomei
"It's all we can hope for...I have faith!"
Deputy Mike
"How did you make that crystal freeze like that, was that like a trick or something?"
Looking out front window, the Sheriff notices that Argus has taken a dump right outside the office door
"Hey Mike, why don't you make yourself productive and help Tomei with a little project?"
Deputy Mike
"What's that Sheriff?"
Sheriff handing Mike a shovel
"Go clean up the crap please...stop worrying about the spinning crystals, understand?"
Tomei
"I'll be on my way, see you next week?"
Sheriff
"I might need you to fix Mike if he doesn't come out of his fog..."
Tomei
"Oh, that will go away, in an hour or two...but you know where to find me, take care."
Sheriff
"Bless you Tomei, thanks again for helping out!"
Tomei exiting, pointing up
"Oh, don't thank me, thank the ones up there...you should know this?"
Sheriff with a laugh
"I'm learning, I'm learning..."
(Scene Close)
Dolson
